TOP 5 FALL FASHION TRENDS TO TRY

There is no doubt that fall is the fashion gal’s favorite season. At this time of the year, you’ll get to see the highs of fashion. Even though this year is a lot different from many other years, with us facing a pandemic people have somehow find time and reason to wear some of this year’s fall trends with the addition of a mask of course.

There are a number of fall trends to try this year, but the ones below make my list of the top five to try this season. Some of these fall trends can be taken into the winter season, depending on where you live.

Preppy Style

Last year we saw where the Western inspired looks took precedence but this year it’s all about the preppiness and Ivy League Style. Think rich parents sending you to a private preparatory school, think Blair Waldorf and you’ll have an idea of exactly what I am talking about. For this trend you’ll see lots of navy, stripes, collegiate sweaters and bomber jackets, and best of all tailoring.

Sweater Vest

This trend is basically piggy backing off the preppy trend. Fashion power houses like Gucci, Prada, and Dior all included this trend in their latest collection for fall/winter and I am here for it. Add a collared shirt and a pleated skirt and you are right back to your private high school being envious of the kids in public school who get to change what they wear to school each day.

Chunky Boots

The chunky boots trend emerged last year around January and the wave is still going strong. The heavy-duty lug-soles have won the hearts of most of the fashion gals worldwide, needless to say I am feeling the trend. The chunky boots are not only on trend, but they are also very comfortable, and we should see this trend going all the way through winter.

The Shacket

You maybe asking what is she even talking about, a sha what? Well, a shacket is an oversized shirt-jacket hybrid. It looks like a shirt but is able to layer like a jacket. They are normally made out of a wool-blend which makes them thicker than a regular shirt, but thinner than a heavy jacket. You can easily layer a shacket over a dress or even a shirt and jeans.

Statement Cardigans

Cardigans have long been a fall trend as the comfy knit pieces are always suitable for the cool season. However, statement cardigans made its way into this year’s fall trends to try because of so many people working from home but want to make a fashion statement. You will see them oversized and in a heavier knit that is structured enough to be worn as a jacket alternative. You’ll also see them in pattern, pastel colors and your regular neutral like beige and gray.

Overall, the major fall trend this year is the preppy style and most of the other trends piggyback off it. There are many other fall trends I am loving this year but the ones I mentioned above are my top five. Let me know in the comments if you will try or if you have already tried any of these trends.
