5 Reason Why You Should Visit Jamaica...

I know you all have been waiting and wondering where the Jamaica blog post is, but listen, I have a good excuse. Your girl came straight from vacation into work and reality has literally been kicking my butt since. I got y’all though!

If you ever wonder why you should visit Jamaica, you first need to know that Jamaica is a VIBE, ok! If you think that your Jamaican friends are the ish, wait until you visit the country. Jamaica is known for its warmth, happiness and adventures. Even though I was born and raised on the beautiful island, located in the Western hemisphere, going home always brings me an unexplainable joy. So, why should you visit Jamaica? Here are a few reasons:

The Tropical Climate

No need to let the cold temperatures get to you. Just book a flight to the warm tropical island of Jamaica. One of the most amazing things about Jamaica is that you can take a trip to the beach all year round. Visitors flock the island nation especially during the winter months to soak up some of the sun, explore and have a good time. In Jamaica #hotgirlsummer is all year long, lol… And a quick note, head to the river like I did when it gets too hot.

The Food

Since I am a foodie and one of the main reasons, I go home is to eat all the food I can, I think that without a doubt you need to visit Jamaica for the food. The island is known for its delicious cuisine, well-seasoned meats and flavored to the bone. It is home to the famous jerk chicken and a favorite of mine; jerk pork. Nothing compares to driving along the road and stopping to buy food and fruits on the roadside. Let’s not forget how popular Jamaica has made beef patties, just add a coco bread and there you have the best combo. I could go on about Jamaican food but I’m getting a bit hungry. Oh, how could I not mention ackee and saltfish (the national dish) with roast breadfruit. Let me move on…

The Jamaican Culture

So, earlier when I stated that Jamaica is vibe, this is what I was getting to. The Jamaican culture is like no other, it is one of a kind. Jamaica is known to have a rich and vibrant culture; so vibrant it is spread across the world and is embraced by locals and foreigners. The lively and friendly nature of the Jamaican people continues to be the main ingredient in the dynamic culture. It’s not just about how Jamaicans talk, socialize or beliefs but it’s a combination, and that’s what makes the culture so unique and extraordinary.

The Attractions

Jamaica is known for its beautiful beaches and food but there are many other attractions. The world famous Dunn's River Falls host thousands of visitors each year and continues to be one of Jamaica’s main attraction. Have you ever been rafting? If not, whenever you visit Jamaica, make sure to take a trip on a bamboo raft 3 miles down the Martha Brae River in Trelawny. Its very relaxing and scenic. You can go bobsledding through the mountains, courtesy of Mystic Mountain Adventure Park. Visit the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston and make sure to stop at Devon House; the view there is amazing and just before you leave grab an ice cream. I love rum and raisin, so get me two scoops please. Just so you know I barely touched the surface of activities and attractions you can part-take in while you are on the island.

The Parties

Listen, when it comes to parties Jamaica holds the gold medal and unbreakable record. Jamaica is the party capital of the Caribbean. If you live anywhere else in the world other than Jamaica and you’ve been to a Jamaican party, you may say its lit! But I have news for you, go to Jamaica to experience an actual street dance, sound system string up and the DJ playing the latest dancehall and reggae music. Jamaicans take partying so serious, that on any given day during the week you can find a street dance happening; Uptown Mondays, Weddy Weddy Wednesdays, Bembe Thursdays, just to name a few. If street dance is not your thing then you can always go to the club or to a reggae festival like Reggae Sumfest or Rebel Salute. Whatever your party needs, Jamaica is the place to be.

So, after reading this post do you agree with me that Jamaica is VIBE. Vibrant, Incredible, Beautiful and Energetic! The land of my birth, my Jamaica, home, yaad, paradise and Jewel of the Caribbean.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever visited Jamaica and what was your experience like. Also, if you’ve never visited Jamaica before, is it on your list of places to visit? I hope you enjoyed reading this post, part two is coming; places to stay while in Jamaica. Until next time, walk good and big up unnu self (in my deepest Jamaican accent).
