15 SUMMER CLOSET ESSENTIALS

We are fully into summer and even though we love to dip into the trends, we also must remember the essential pieces in our closet this season. These are the pieces that we find ourselves pulling on year to year whenever summer comes around. The classic maxi dress, the white t-shirt or even the straw hat are a few of the summer staples you will find yourself in cooperating in your looks. However, if you would like some help determining summer closet essentials, here is a list I prepared for you.
1. White T-shirt
You might be thinking having a white t-shirt as an essential is boring or not that important but trust me there is so much you can do with this piece. It is very versatile and can be styled with almost any and everything in your closet. From a denim pants, to a midi skirt or even under a slip dress.
2. Boyfriend Jeans
We all know and love a good skinny jeans but that’s a winter staple, think loose, comfy, casual, airy and boyfriend jeans comes to mind. It’s perfect for summer because when it’s hot you want air to get to your body easily and boyfriend jeans helps with that. The relaxed vibe that comes with them makes for a good summer day out.
3. Denim Jacket
Think about how cool it gets in the evenings and you will realize that a denim jacket is a summer essential. It’s the perfect summer outer wear especially if you love wearing spaghetti strap tops and sundresses. A denim jacket will also elevate your summer look without taking away from the vibe you want to bring.
4. White Shirt
When you think of a versatile piece, a white button up shirt should come to mind. It can be worn with jeans, shorts, skirt and even a dress. A white shirt is also a great beach cover up while on vacation. You can elevate your look by pairing it with a lightweight blazer for a summer office wear.
5. Strappy Sandals
Go ahead and ditch your classic pumps for some strappy sandals. It’s hot during the summertime and your feet need some air too, nobody wants to walk around with sweaty feet. Plus, wearing strappy sandals will make you appear taller because they elongate your legs. They also bring an extra edge and chicness to your look.
6. Sunglasses
What’s a perfect summer look without the right sunglasses? While they are perfect to block the sun from your eyes, they also add the finishing touch to your summer looks. It’s totally up to you and your style to select the perfect sunglasses; from cat eye versions to a classic pair of aviators.
7. Straw Hat
From the natural colors, to the boater shape a straw hat is definitely a summer essential. It not only adds a fashionable touch and finish to your summer looks but it is also protecting your body from the sun’s harmful rays. That’s a two for one special and I am here for it. Straw hats are great for vacation beach looks or a picnic by the park.
8. Summer Dress
Summer is not summer without the perfect dress. Whether it’s a mini, midi or maxi dress you have to have a few summer dresses in your closet. White dress or vibrant colors, you cannot go wrong. Dresses are easy to style with heels, slides or even a pair of sneakers depending on the occasion or mood you are in.
9. Statement Jewelry
Statement jewelry will take your look from zero to one hundred quick. Wearing multiple necklaces, hoop earrings, or even a bracelet, will complete your look. Think about how elevated your regular white t-shirt and jeans will look just by adding a chunky necklace to it. Statement jewelry are closet staples because they are great additions to simple looks.
10. Shorts
Whether it’s denim or linen, shorts are amazing summer closet essentials. They help to show off your legs and you can pair them with a t-shirt and sneakers for a nice casual look or throw a lightweight blazer and cami with heels for a chic look. Either way you can’t go wrong with a pair of shorts in your closet for the summer.
11. Shopper Bag/Large Tote
During the summer months, you want to take around your water bottle, cell phone and charger, camera, tripod, bathing suit and sunscreen. Having a big bag to carry it all is definitely the way to go.
12. White Pants
Searching for something stylish, crisp, refreshing and chic then think wearing white during the summertime. White pants add that extra flare to a summer outfit and can be paired with any top of your liking. So, whether it’s a skinny, flare, linen or denim white pants your closet needs it, it’s an essential.
13. Colored Crossbody Bag
The right pop of color is all it takes to bring life to an outfit and no outfit is complete this summer without that. While you can always wear brightly colored clothes you want to maintain balance by not letting that color be too over baring. That’s when you bring out your colored crossbody bag to do the magic.
14. Slides
Slides make great summer essentials because you can put them on and go, in addition, you can wear them with anything from maxi dresses, midi skirts, jeans pant you name it. Slides can have you looking relaxed and luxurious at the same time.
15. One Piece Swimsuit
The perfect summer closet must include swim wear and a one-piece swimsuit is ideal. A one-piece is versatile and can be doubled as a top or undergarment. It’s timelessly stylish and can be dressed up or down to your liking.
